TRANSFORMATIONAL NURSING LEADERSHIP: A SIX-STEP JOURNEY

WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT

This course is designed to help you develop transformational nursing leadership skills that will enable you to become an effective leader and have a positive impact on your teams stress and engagement levels and their level of performance.

You shift from an inconsistent leader to becoming a transformational leader by improving your self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Learning how to leave any situation better than when you found it is a key leadership skill that comes with knowing how to lead other peoples energy. Knowing how to do this will make you a leader for these times.

THE PROCESS: HOW WE DO IT

May 15th Module 1: Manage Your Energy - teaches you how to manage your energy by covering topics such as the importance of self-care and emotional intelligence, why anti-fragility is better than resilience, identifying energy drains including thinking styles, and implementing a prescriptive approach to rest.
No coaching session (encouraging online engagement to start program)
May 22nd Module 2: Discover to Perform - aims to help you discover how to perform better through various steps, including decoding your DISC inventory and learning about other styles, starting your personal development plan, understanding yourself and others, and recognizing the role of stress in performance, as well as modeling behaviors that can lead to success.
Coaching session week on May 29th
June 5th Module 3: Lead the Team - focuses on leadership and covers topics such as differentiating between a manager and a leader, understanding leadership styles, introducing emotional intelligence, setting role model behaviors, discussing power and control, transformational nurse identities, visioning, and becoming more deliberate in your leadership approach.
Coaching session week on June 19th
June 26th Module 4: Ditch the Drama - diving on how to "ditch the drama" and includes a deep dive into dysfunctional nurse identities, de-escalating drama, and approaching difficult conversations with confidence. 
Coaching session week on July 10th
July 17th Module 5: Communicate to Engage - discusses on how to communicate effectively to engage your team. This includes developing your listening skills, creating a culture of engagement, and learning about change management and make a plan for change.
Coaching session week on July 31st
August 7th Module 6: Develop Your Team - concentrates on developing your team through the following: establishing a learning culture to improve quality, utilizing the feedforward model for feedback, and learning how to influence those in positions above, alongside, and below you.
Coaching session week on August 21st
September 4th Final coaching session. Case studies in groups to integrate the learnings
